Jason T. Koreckij, MD
Specialty: Adult Spine Surgery
Request an AppointmentA native of Festus, Missouri, Dr. Koreckij has always been fascinated with the way the body moves. His decorated career has led him to COG in 2012 and he loves his time in Columbia.
Dr. Koreckij earned his bachelor's degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and returned to Missouri for medical school. He received his medical degree and performed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine. While there, Dr. Koreckij was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Following his residency, Dr. Koreckij completed an orthopaedic spinal surgery fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
Dr. Koreckij specializes in adult degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine. He believes most spine problems can be effectively treated non-operatively and that spine surgery should be the last option in most instances. He also believes in the practice of "evidence-based spine surgery" and, as a peer reviewer for the journal Spine, he dedicates a significant portion of his time to staying current on evidence-based literature.
Dr. Koreckij is married to Renee, who is a cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and learning the game of golf, which he says is an ongoing project.
Dr. Koreckij's team includes:
Starla, administrative and clinical assistant
