Non-Operative Orthopaedics
Request an AppointmentDr. Buchert was born in Tennessee and moved to Columbia, Missouri where he graduated from Hickman High School. From a young age, he wanted to be involved in helping people, so he pursued a career in medicine to enhance the lives of his patients every single day.
He earned his bachelors degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts and returned to Columbia, Missouri to attend the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Upon finishing medical school, Dr. Buchert completed his internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery, both at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics. He then moved to Columbus, Ohio where he completed a total joint fellowship at Ohio State University.
Dr. Buchert joined Columbia Orthopaedic Group in 1985 and now sees patients in clinic with a special interest in hip and knee arthritis including total joint replacement. He has treated thousands of patients from across the Midwest and believes that arthritis treatment always begins conservatively, stating that medications, physical therapy, injections, and lifestyle changes can help dramatically.
Once conservative measures fail, operative intervention can be considered. In his career, Dr. Buchert performed over 6,000 hip and knee replacements. He now refers his surgical patients to his partners at Columbia Orthopaedic Group.
Dr. Buchert is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of a number of medical societies including the Missouri State Medical Society, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
