Dr. Yehyawi was born and raised in Keokuk, Iowa where he was captain and an All-American linebacker for the football team at Truman State. He quickly found a love for leadership and involvement in the community leading him down the path of his medical career.
Dr. Tameem Yehyawi specializes in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He attended college at Truman State University where he studied Biology pre-med. He graduated with honors and went on to attend medical school at the University of Iowa where he graduated as a member of the AOA honor society, which is awarded to individuals in the top tier of each medical school class. He then spent the next 5 years completing his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals which remains one of the most highly ranked training programs in the country in orthopaedic surgery. After this, he completed a fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California sub-specializing further in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Yehyawi performs surgery but also utilizes non-operative techniques to help patients of all ages achieve their goals and return to being active. He has a special interest in treating injuries of the knee and shoulder, such as ligament and cartilage injuries of the knee, meniscus tears, shoulder instability, labrum, and rotator cuff tears. He feels the most satisfying part of his career is the interaction he has with his patients each day and helping them find their way back to participating in the activities they enjoy.
