Kyphosis is an abnormal forward rounding of the back, informally referred to as "hunchback." Mild cases of kyphosis are less intrusive, but more severe kyphosis cases can be painful and even exhibit disfiguration.

It is a very common condition with more than three million cases in the United States every year. Since kyphosis can be related to osteoporosis, it is more common with older women than other patients.

Kyphosis can be treated by pain medication, physical therapy, or severe cases it can require surgery.
