Scoliosis is a spinal curvature. Scoliosis affects more than three million Americans every year, making it a common condition. The cause is unknown, but scoliosis can correspond with conditions like cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy or more commonly can results from ade and disk degeneration.

The spinal deformity can range from a slight curvature of ten degrees (the minimum measurement to warrant a scoliosis diagnosis) to a dramatic S-shaped curvature.
